The jeans dilemma - Remix #9

You know what's great about losing 20 pounds in the past year? Being thinner. You know what sucks about it? Half my clothes don't fit properly anymore. This, of course, is a wonderful excuse to go buy some new clothes, but when it comes to jeans, I'm extra picky. These are Gap boot-cut jeans, and they're the only pair of jeans that have ever looked remotely good on me. That's why I'm having trouble letting them go, even though they're clearly too big and bunchy on me now. And I suppose I could just go to Gap and buy a few more pairs of their boot-cuts, but lately I've been lusting after another, much pricier pair. To be particular, this pair. And while my taste in clothes has slowly gotten more expensive over the years, and while I know they would be jeans that would look killer and I'd wear for years, I just hate the idea of paying $200 for a pair of jeans. But then again, if I'm going to pay a sizable amount of money for jeans no matter where I get them (they're $60-70 at Gap), then shouldn't I get one pair that I really love over two or three pairs of jeans that I just kind of like?

Do any of you have Emersonmade jeans? Are they really worth the cost? Or do you have another brand of jeans that you swear by?

  1. I thrift all of my jeans, even if I don't necessarily need them at the time. Lots of Gap at the thrift stores, but my fav brand (on me) is AG, and they're a small fortune retail. I've purchased two pair and paid 7.99 and 5.99 respectively. Give thrift a chance in this area. I think you'll like what you find. Love the hint of red at your waistline, and those shoes - love. You look fabulous and congratulations on the weight loss. ; )

  2. You can also try places like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Ross. I found a pair of jeans at Marshalls that retails for over $200 for $50. I have to try on a bazillion pairs of jeans before finding the one pair that fits and looks good. I'm not picky about brand names, just a good fit.

  3. Thanks for the great suggestions! I don't think I've ever purchased jeans at a thrift store, but I'll have to give it a chance! And I can't believe I completely forgot that TJ Maxx existed - I will definitely be paying them a visit too!

  4. Looooove those shoes! The last pair of jeans I bought for $200+ was a pair of Kasils like 7 years ago. I miss those days! Haha!
