Josh and I went downtown for lunch on Saturday, and since it was rainy and I knew we'd be walking the whole way, I made sure to build my outfit around my rain boots. This outfit probably would have looked cooler with my space age wedges, but sometimes you just have to go with practical footwear. This was only the second time I've worn this black dress (the other time was here). It's so short that it doesn't lend itself easily to styling - I think I'll always need to layer a skirt or leggings underneath it.
Black turtleneck: Old Navy
Black dress: ModCloth
Black leggings: Target
Gray rain boots: Hunter from Nordstrom
Spider necklace: Bauble Bar
White stone bracelet: In Pink
Belt: thrifted from Rerun
I LOVE this dress so much Stacey! You look gorgeous! I think the rain boots work. I had a moment this weekend wherein Patrick suggested we go out on the motorcycle. I was already dressed when he told me that I needed closed toe shoes and to loose the hat. But that's my outfit! I protest. Turns out, though, he was right. Sometimes practicality has to win in the end.
ReplyDeleteYeah, practicality probably should win out when you're on a motorcycle!
DeleteI love the dress, and you need to wear it more!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
I agree!
DeleteOh, that dress is seriously great. I love the hem.
ReplyDeleteI think the fun hem was what blinded me to how short it was :)
DeleteStacey I love that you created your outfit around your wellies - you're a girl after my own heart!! You pull it off beautifully with your gorgeous accessories :))

Thanks, Catherine! I should feature more outfits with my rain boots on here, because I wear them all the time.
DeleteOh my goodness, I am seriously in love with your necklace! I have a thing for insect jewelry so.. yes. That is adorable, as is the uneven lace hem you're wearing!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wear that necklace at least twice a week. Most people in my family think it's weird that I like wearing a spider around my neck - but it's not real, so I don't see a problem with it :)
Deletelove that bracelet!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's one of my favorites - it's very eye-catching :)
DeleteUgh, I hate wearing practical footwear-but I'm loving your boots! It's nice when you find an option that is cute AND functional, no? I'm loving this neutral look on you! The belt adds just the perfect amount of interest. Cute detail at the bottom of your dress too-love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie! I hate practical footwear too. My closet is probably 90% heels, 10% flats :)
DeleteI have the same boots--is there any way to polish them to shiny again. I don't love wearing mine anymore because they look dull. Anyhow, the dress is adorable. Thanks so much for sharing on Monday Mingle at Momtrends.
ReplyDeleteI know Hunter sells some sort of polish, but I haven't tried it. Because I wear my boots so often, I'm not sure that polish would keep them looking shiny for very long :)
DeleteYou had me at sequins!
