Technophobe

On Sunday the weather was sunny and warm enough for bare legs - for about two hours. Then, during the weekly Costco lunch date Josh and I have (I know, we're so cool), the clouds and the wind swept in, and I was freezing in this outfit.

So Josh got a smartphone on Saturday! I had the chance to get one for free when he got his, but I turned it down. I'm a bit of a technophobe, and very resistant to change. I was one of the last people I knew to get a cell phone and join Facebook, and I'll probably be one of the last people I know to get a smartphone and join Twitter. (Although I may not ever be able to bring myself to join Twitter, because the thought of saying "I just tweeted" makes me snort with laughter.) I'm a bit old-fashioned in that I miss the days of landline-only phone calls, where people couldn't reach you when you were out running errands - but I also really appreciate having a cell phone for when my car breaks down, or if I need to ask Josh a question when I'm away from the house. How do you guys feel about tech stuff? Do you love fancy phones, or are you someone who doesn't even have a cell phone? (And if you don't, I applaud you!)

  1. Cute dress! We haven't had much bare leg weather the last few days either! :(

    1. Thanks! I've been a little jealous of everyone else around the country that's been getting 80-degree weather, so it's nice to know that Oregon wasn't the only state left out of the warm-weather loop :)

  2. first, i love this outfit, and i can't get over how pretty that dress is! second, i completely understand the technophobe thing. my phone i guess is a smart phone, but i don't pay the extra fee each month to be constantly connected to the internet because i think that's just ridiculous. in my opinion, i feel like people have gotten insane about phones and don't even know how to function if they can't update facebook or check their email every 13 seconds, even when they're doing something else (like being in the middle of a conversation they can't finish because of the distraction of a stupid phone). so yeah, i will never be one of those people because i know that life can be very enjoyable without the phone being attached to your hand 24/7!

    1. I didn't even know you COULD have a smart phone and not be connected to the internet! I agree, a lot of people these days are obsessed with their phones - I get really irritated when I'm trying to hang out with someone and they pull out their phone to check something every few minutes.

  3. Great dress and sandals. I was the same way about cell phones, but now that I have my Blackberry I realize why they called it a "crackberry". And though I have a Twitter, I hardly ever use it. And the words associated with it (Twitter, tweeted, etc.) really make me giggle.

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only person who's highly amused by all the words associated with Twitter :)

  4. Your dress looks like it enjoyed the days before cell phones, and I was one of the biggest cellphone resistant people out there - but after a debacle when meeting a friend who was arriving by train went awry and she couldn't reach me, I finally had to cave.
However, when the iPhone came out (well two months after it came out and they dropped the price) I bought one and I LOVE it. I mean, becuase I don't really use it as a phone.

    1. The only reason I finally got a cell phone was because it was super annoying whenever I would try to meet up with people somewhere and they would show up late, or get lost, or I would get lost. It's just easier now to have a cell phone.

  5. I've still just got an old flip phone from 2008 myself, it's over an inch thick haha. It still does the trick, and my cell phone bill is under $20 a month! That's mostly because I'm not an avid texter though. I know a few people without cell phones still, but they're all hippies :D

    1. My flip phone feels ancient now and it's only from 2010! I'm seriously impressed at how low your phone bill is!

  6. I'm a total technophobe. I'm still not on Facebook, I'll never tweet, I can't get behind Pinterest and the only reason I got a new phone is because my old one, from 2008 broke. It's a shock that I even blog, actually.

    1. Yay! You're one of the only women I "know" who doesn't like Pinterest! I could never get into it either. I have an account, but I've only used it for two things: 1) to assemble an easy-to-view collection of potential bridesmaid dresses for my friend's wedding, and 2) to decide what shoes I wanted to purchase from an online retailer. Other than that, I haven't gone near it.
