This hat is almost comically huge, but I love it because it means I don't have to put sunblock on my face and neck when I'm out in the sun. (Okay, let's be honest here: I almost never wear sunblock anyway, so basically the hat just makes me feel better about that.) The gigantic hat plus the bold printed dress plus the bright shoes made for an outfit that felt on the verge of overkill, but it also felt very fun and summery. This is one of those dresses that would be improved upon if I hemmed it up about six inches, but I have so many dresses that I've been meaning to hem that I've been overwhelmed into procrastination.
Thank you all for your lovely comments on yesterday's post. You were very sympathetic, kind and flattering, and I appreciated it :)

yeah, I have a lot of things in my sewing pile... i actually made an attempt at it last weekend but succeeded in finishing nothing.
ReplyDeleteStill a very cute dress, and I love the hat. I've been ignoring my floppy one this summer. it's too big for anywhere but the beach.
At least you tried! Every time I walk past my sewing pile...well, I just keep on walking :)
DeleteI recognize that look!! Love, Dad
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I gave you and Mom the angry eyes many times growing up :)
DeleteOh honey! This dress is a star I just adore the floral print and vintage fit! Plus the hat just makes it...you look cool and glamourous.

You're so sweet! I do love this hat :)
DeleteOMG I just literally laughed out loud at your last photo. That is the same kind of response I have too, followed by a middle finger and prepping my pepper spray. LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't think this outfit is too much at all. I love the bright print on the dress, the hat is the PERFECT size (I never wear sunblock either . . . and I doubt half the people that say they do actually do . . .) and of course I love your sandals.
My nurse friends are always horrified when I say I never wear sunblock :)
Deleteoh, that sweet ole' sunblock. I have to put on a fresh layer of the stuff every 1 to 2 hours when I'm out in the sun, but honestly, I maybe put it on once a day :) It's so sticky, haha! Also, i really like the fun floral pint on your dress! So whimsy! x
ReplyDeleteHey, at least you wear sunblock every day! I'm impressed. You have such fair skin, you probably burn really easily, huh?
DeleteThat's an amazing print! Love it.

I am having a fabulous giveaway right here.
That last photo is awesome. And I love the color and print on this dress. I wouldn't say you need to take it up six inches though; I think just above the knee would be good too.
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe four inches :)
DeleteOh I love huge enormous hats! I wore one to church a few weeks ago and felt bad for the people behind me because I was sitting in the 3rd row! But I got lots of compliments on it. I love the last photo too - extreme blogging!
ReplyDeleteI love it when people wear hats to church! Not many people do that these days.
DeleteFabulous! It's perfect. The hat, the bright colors, the shoes all go together so well. I really like the hem length to be honest :)
ReplyDeletePs. This is your sis-in-law Paula :) I follow your blog religiously!!
Yay! Hi Paula :)
DeleteI love the look! Not overkill at all but I love bold outfits!!! The dress and hat are fantastic!
