Spring is not on the way

Happy Groundhog Day! Regardless of whether Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow or not, I'm firmly convinced that winter is going to continue here for a few more months. I saw tons of bloggers on the east coast wearing outfits with bare legs in January (!), but here in Oregon bare legs weather is a good four months away. Still, I can't help but hope for spring and all the pretty flowers it brings, so when I saw this lovely floral top at H&M I just had to get it. I've been wanting to try the peplum trend even though I suspected it wouldn't look good with my wide hips - but it does! It's actually quite a flattering style on me as long as I wear something fitted on the bottom to balance out the flare of the shirt. (In case you don't know what a peplum is, it's the fabric at the bottom of this shirt that flares out over my hips. Skirts can also have a peplum; it would just be at the top instead of the bottom. I'm dying to try this peplum skirt, even though it's highly unlikely that it would look good on me.) Have any of you tried the peplum trend? How do you feel about it?

  2. I have peplum top from several years ago that I sort of stopped wearing, when I heard the trend was back I took it out of the closet, but I still don't really want to wear it, oddly enough.
And i've totally worn skirts with peplum, huge hips and all. if you don't mind accentuating them, it's totally fine. no worse than any other full skirt.

  3. I love this peplum top on you! I have also been wanting to jump on that trend, even though it kind of reminds me of something I wore to my 8th grade graduation. This floral top is so pretty. I am crossing my fingers for spring to come to Colorado early too! C'mon groundhog--don't let us down!

  4. The peplum top looks fabulous on you. I'm glad you gave it a shot.

And I don't plan on bare legs any time soon either. It's sunny but COLD.

  6. Well now I feel silly. Here I thought peplum was a kind of fabric. I've never tried it, but my hips are very wide too and so I'd rather avoid it. That skirt is intense, I could so not pull that off.
