Reality vs. Photography

This was one of those outfits that didn't really photograph as well as it looked in real life. I looked super cool, I swear! (Even with that crazy pointy red hat.) But I like to share even the outfit photos that I'm not wild about, because this is after all a personal style blog, not a showcase of My Best Outfits Ever - there are bound to be missteps as I experiment with my style. (Although I still don't consider this outfit a misstep. I consider the photos a misstep.)

I do like this red hat, weird as it is. From the side it looks like a pirate hat, but from the front it almost looks like a bowler hat. It's a fun way to add a touch of quirkiness to an otherwise simple outfit such as this one.

Floral top: Marshall's
Jeans: Gap
Camel-colored blazer: Forever 21
Brown boots: TJ Maxx
Red hat: gift from my mom, from ScanFair
Gold bracelet: In Pink

  1. that is a problem with the bright, strong sunlight... maybe an off camera flash to fill in the other side....

love the fringey bracelet, so cool

  2. Love the bracelet! It's gorgeous and unique.

  3. I hate it when my photos come out wrong. Like my last two outfit posts. such a bummer! BUT that hat is really pretty, as is your blouse! x

  4. You know I feel your pain. I'm glad you post yours too though - it helps me know I'm not alone. ;-)

  5. aw, it's always so frustrating when a good outfit isn't represented well in pictures! still, i like it, and i think your bracelet is great!

  6. such an adorable hat
