Pretty basic

Do any of you style bloggers avoid wearing something repeatedly on your blog because you feel like it's too much of a statement piece, and you don't want your readers to get tired of it? I feel that way about this skirt. I've worn it only once on this blog two months ago (here), and yet I only now felt like it was okay to wear it again. I'm having tons of fun with this blog, but I think I need to learn to let myself wear whatever I want, not whatever will look good as a blog post. I wanted to wear this skirt about a dozen times over the summer, but didn't because I didn't want you guys to get bored with it. That's so silly! I should be utilizing my closet to its fullest, not trying to wear as many different things as possible.

I'm on the fence about this hat with this outfit. I felt like the outfit was pretty basic without it (and my solution to "basic" is almost always to slap on a hat), but I'm not sure if the hat really added anything to the look. Thoughts?

  1. I totally agree- I think my fav bloggers are the ones who remix their clothes, find different ways to way the same piece- like Kendi, I've learned so much from her 30 X 30! So feel free to repeat items- I appreciate the real factor.

I'm following you, maybe we can follow each other?

  2. I love this top -- such a gorgeous color.

In terms of the hat, I agree with your final thoughts. This is a lovely outfit, and you finished everything perfectly right down to the belt. I'm not sure the hat (while definitely a great piece) adds much.

  3. Yes and No. If I'm really loving something at the moment and I haven't worn it in a week, then I can totally wear it again. sometimes I try to make a piece look different by photographing it in a different place. Silly, but true, I feel like something is less of a repeat if there is a scenery change.

But I do love the skirt, and would not object if you wanted to wear it more!

  4. This skirt is so cool! I would totally rock it as often as you like. That's one great thing about blogging - learning to remix your wardrobe and wear something differently each time. We do twice a week remix posts just for this very reason!

  5. I may not be the right person to ask about hats, I always think a hat is better. If the hat doesn't work it is because I need different hat and go shopping. I like the hat but it's not married to this outfit, maybe a big white hat with wide brim.....

  6. Really, I just need a huge collection of hats in every color and style, that way I would have one to go with every outfit!
