Sometimes I like trends, and sometimes I hate them. There are trends that I choose not to follow because I'm genuinely repulsed by them (like Twitter and Twilight mania). There are trends that I avoid just because there are too many people already interested in them (for example, I actually really wanted to watch the royal wedding last year, but didn't because too many people were obsessed with it). Then there are trends I adore and instantly embrace, like floral print pants. Now, I know floral prints have been around for centuries, but there's no denying that floral print pants are a big deal in fashion this year. I know there are some people who try to wear only classic clothes so they'll never look dated, but I think it'll be fun to look back on these photos in thirty years and say, "That must have been 2012, because that was the year I wore those floral pants at least once a week. I can't believe I wore something like that!" I don't mind the idea of this outfit looking ridiculous in a few decades, because I sure did have fun wearing it now, and I think that's the important thing.
Plus, I think the black lace top and black flats are pretty classic. I could see myself wearing them when I'm fifty. (Although honestly, I'll probably wear floral print pants when I'm fifty if they're back in style.)

So cute! Those are such cute pants!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about trends. I got a Twitter at the request of another blogger who wanted my help with something but I NEVER update it. I never go on there. I hate Twilight and Hunger Games and all that stuff for the same reason. I love the floral pants and I feel the same way about looking back in decades old styles. I think that these were in before, they are in now and they will most likely be "back in" in the future too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you feel the same way :) The only reason I'm reading The Hunger Games trilogy is because I started it before the movie came out and it suddenly became repulsively popular. (And for the record, the books are actually really good!)
DeleteI just wore these floral pants yesterday...aren't they the cat's whiskers? I just love the floral print it makes me feel so bright and happy :) Esp cute with your bright coat.

Yes, these pants are so great! If I didn't have a style blog I'd probably wear them more than once a week, but you know, I have to make sure there's variety :)
DeleteLove your pants.
ReplyDeleteI wore floral pants in the mid-80s, and that's exactly how I feel about those old photos! So dated, but so many good memories. Yours are super cute and I love the way you style them. Personally, I'm going to give this trend a pass until it rolls around next time when I'll probably be 70 and I can rock anything I want!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't old enough to rock floral pants in the 1980s, but I too plan on rocking them in my 70's if they're back in style!
