Sometimes I think the fashion world tries to be innovative by adding a lot of layers. I mean, seriously, J. Crew - is anyone really going to wear a button-up shirt, a sweater, and a jacket with shorts? (Except for Blair from Atlantic-Pacific. She may look cute, but I don't imagine that she's ever really comfortable.) The problem with layers on top and bare legs on bottom is that you're pretty much guaranteed to have one half of your body be either too warm or too cold. In the case of this outfit, I was too warm on top. But at least I felt cute, and I eventually got some ice cream to cool down. (From Salt & Straw, of course.)
Lace dress: H&M
Chambray shirt: Sears
Blue and green wedges: Nine West from Nordstrom Rack
Purse: Michael Kors, thrifted from Salvation Army
Sunglasses: Oscar de la Renta from TJ Maxx
Blue and green necklace: purchased in Florence, Italy
White bracelet: H&M
That dress is lovely and I really like the mix of fabrics xo
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! Lace + chambray = perfection. Lovely necklace as well, I love how you added another color up near your face!
ReplyDeleteI feel you. But then again, I am currently running a space heater under my desk because I get cold so easily. So, maybe it's just for wimps with less than stellar circulation like myself? Love this pretty lace dress!
ReplyDeleteI love this combo! Perhaps I'll try to recreate it - I've been super into lace lately.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I tried Salt and Straw on your recommendation and it was AMAZING. I went to the Albert location (and by the looks of your photos you're in NW not NE) but if your branch has the dandelion sorbet, TRY IT :) thanks for the tip, I knew it would come in handy to follow a Portland blog!
I'm so glad you liked Salt & Straw! Yep, I'm in NW within walking distance of it, which is dangerous :) I haven't tried the dandelion sorbet yet, so if I see it there next time I'll definitely get a sample!
DeleteExactly. No normal human can wear all those layers. it just doesn't work. it's far too fussy and bulky.
ReplyDeleteThis is some very creative layering, and i love it.
Chic on the Cheap
This is so pretty. I love seeing a casual way to wear lace!
ReplyDeleteVery nice combo 0f chambray and lace - and lovely finishing touches too. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!

I have had the same secret feelings about some of the over stylized looks I see on fashion blogs. Layers are for winter.
ReplyDeletegreat look !
ReplyDeleteI am not great with layering but I think you completely pulled off this look. Love the blouse under the lace dress.
ReplyDeletelove the layering! tres chic.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Think the shoes are my favorite touch.

Stacey this look is perfection - the lace dress is gorgeous on its own but looks just devine with the addition of the shirt and necklace! Though I know where you're coming from with the bare legs/layering on top thing... I couldn't do it either, I feel the cold far too easily!

i love this outfit! with our weird weather at the moment, i really don't know what to dress for. i'm either too warm or it's a little chilly. i can totally see this with tights and boots when it's colder. :)
