On the fence

I'll be honest with you guys: I'm on the fence about this outfit. There are parts of it that I really like, such as the green on green with the vest over the dress, but then there are parts I feel meh about, like my whole leg area. (I'm thinking knee-high brown boots would have looked better.) But instead of indulging my insecurities and not posting it, I thought I'd ask all of you - what do you think about this outfit? What parts of it (if any) do you think worked, and what do you think I could have done to improve it? (Gosh, I feel like that question belongs on a test or something!) I know most comments that are left on fashion blogs are along the lines of "Great outfit!" but I promise you won't hurt my feelings if you tell me you don't like it :)

Dress: free from aunt
Vest: Anthropologie
Shoes: Aldo
Hat: from my dad
Necklace: Dress Barn
Belt: thrifted from Goodwill
Purse: Michael Kors (!) thrifted from Salvation Army

  1. I love the green on green and the gold accents! I think the shoes and tights work really well. What I would change is: take in the sleeves a bit so they are not so baggy and put the belt on the outside of the dress and the vest.

  2. "Great outfit!"

I wouldn't do that to you Stacey...! I know what you mean about some outfits, several times I've worn an outfit I was happy with, then saw the photos and totally thought meh, and was really reluctant to post them. Quite often you get a great reaction anyway, and bloggers compliment you on the parts you yourself weren't keen on.

I HONESTLY think that the tights and boots look just right, and I think I would prefer them to knee-high boots. If you have shapely legs like you do then always show them off I say, probably because I don't like mine! The tones of this outfit are lovely, and the shoe shape suits the casual long tee and vest vibe you got going on. BTW thrifted Michael Kors bag? You lucky girl!!!

Let me know my score! B+? A-?

  3. Gorgeous outfit! Olive green has always been one of my favorite colors. This gives off a very autumn-y vibe. Love it :)

  4. I actually like the leg area (OK that comes off way creepier than I thought :P) The dress and the vest work too. I would lose the hat though. You don't need it.

  5. Okay, this is something I struggle with because I love green (particularly these shades), its my favorite color, but I never know what to wear with it. I feel like when I where brown shoes, it is too "I am a woodland elf" (or hippie earth mother), but black seems too harsh. I feel like the hat in this outfit is keeping you out of elf territory.
