Here's a little tip for those of you who take your own outfit photos: If your f-stop is set too low and you're not in bright or direct sunlight, your camera might not be able to focus on you. I learned that when taking these pictures. (There was some swearing involved. And I am not a swearing person.) After taking about 100 shots with the f-stop at f/2.0 and having them all turn out blurry, I figured out the problem. So do yourself a favor - if you're shooting on a tripod during the "golden hour" (the hour before sunset), you may need to set your f-stop to at least f/2.5.
Whew! Now that we've got that technical stuff out of the way, on to the outfit! A few months ago I bookmarked a page in a magazine that showed a picture of a chambray shirt with the sleeves rolled up over a striped top, and I've been waiting for an occasion to copy that inspiration ever since! I love that the skirt and top combined actually look like they could be a dress, and I love the casual feel the chambray gives to this outfit.
(This outfit reminds me a lot of one I wore a few weeks ago here. Apparently I also take inspiration from my own outfits as well as magazines!)
Striped top: H&M
Chambray button-up: Sears
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Sam Edelman Kendall wedges from Piperlime
Belt: Goodwill
Earrings: free from aunt
Bracelets: H&M and Fred Meyer

Haha, I'm one of those who will just keep fighting the AF at f/1.4 for as long as it takes. I love my bokeh.
ReplyDeleteLove your light too - I feel like I haven't seen a sunset in a million years, every night it's been over cast.
And I love your double stripes. so cute.
Thanks for the photo tip! Will probably help me in the near future! :D
ReplyDeleteI like this outfit a lot! Very fresh and classic!
ReplyDeleteLove that you added photo tips -how fab!! And your shots turned out beautifully. I absolutely adore golden hour. I'm also swooning over those shoes, just spotted them on solestruck... you've styled them so wonderfully here. xo veronika
ReplyDeleteThat's a good tip. I always keep my camera on manual focus, but that can be tricky when your background is empty.
ReplyDeleteLove your double stripes!
P/S: I always thought it's "magic hour", not "golden." But then I found out that in photography it's called the "golden hour" but in cinematography it's "magic." I guess that's the film student in me :P
I am in love with your shoes!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! Your photos turned out great! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the edge you've been showing with outfits. Stripes are definitely here for the long haul. They look great on you. And the outfit post below is amazing.
