The dying of the light

You may have noticed that lately almost all of my outfit photos have been on the roof. This is because it's literally the only location left in our part of town that still has sunlight shining on it when Josh gets home from work. We live at the foot of a huge hill, which means that the sunlight disappears on our side about an hour earlier than it actually sets. So when Josh gets home at around 6:30, we rush upstairs and snap as many pictures as we can before the light disappears. These photos were taken maybe fifteen minutes before the sun "set" behind the hill, which means that we probably only have another week or so of being able to take photos in this location. When I realized this, I ordered a wireless remote for my camera so I can start taking pictures on my own. I would love to know - what do you fashion bloggers do about lighting when the days start getting shorter? Do you take your outfit photos in the morning? On your lunch break? Or do you just take a whole bunch of outfit photos on the weekend when you have free time during the day?

As for my outfit - well, it just felt like a jeans and t-shirt kind of day. I did try to make some effort with my necklace, though :)

  2. Your photos taken in the "golden hour" are gorgeous. I too am wondering what to do once the sun goes down after work here in the UK...? (Mind you, we've hardly seen the sun all summer, I started my blog in July!)

    Beautiful necklace BTW

  3. I hate it when the light starts to go... and I finally realized that if I run down to the end of the street, I can get about a half hour more light than at my house.

But in the winter, last year I took photos for the week ahead over the weekend. it was a pain. but i dont have any better ideas.

  4. You can snap the photos during your lunch hour or something... The light won't be as lovely as the magic hour, of course, but oh well.

Since I only go into the office 3 days a week I have the luxury of taking my outfit photos the day before. But taking pictures over the weekend might not be a bad idea. You get to plan your entire week's outfits beforehand. As long as the weather stays consistent, that is. I've had days when I plan a "warm weather" outfit and the day turns out to be much colder than I expected.

  5. I would gladly steal this outfit from you, right down to the wedges. (Being glad about stealing isn't good though.)

I think a lot of folks take their photos in advance (over a weekend, etc). I don't take as many outfit photos as I should for GCOGH, but once I get into the habit I will probably do several in a day. The light is always gone by the time I step out of the work/e-mail/life vortex.

  6. Thank you so much for your comment! My shoes from Target are only available online in this style...I was kind of bummed to find that out, but decided I had to have them anyway-even though I hate shopping online!
I LOVE your gorgeous wedges-this outfit is just so pretty and classic! The pop of color with the necklace is gorgeous too.
