Pleats and lace

Josh and I have outfit photos down to a science now. I do all my standard poses (head to the side, head and body to the side, facing forwards, smiling, not smiling, hand on hip, detail shots), and we get it done in about five minutes, with fifty photos or less. But when I take photos on my own (like these) with a remote and tripod, it's like I forget everything I've learned. I end up taking multiple photos in a row looking down at my feet or adjusting my belt. I press the remote for a picture while scratching my head. I take five photos before I realize that I look grumpy or I'm staring at a bird flying by. (Seriously. It's like my hand is so happy to hold a remote that it presses the button regardless of whether I'm actually posing.) And it takes me twenty minutes and I end up with about two hundred pictures. Ridiculous.

Anyway, moving on to my outfit...

I got this skirt at H&M the other day for thirteen dollars. I couldn't believe the price. I've been looking for a pleated skirt for practically the whole of 2011, but all the ones I've found have been forty or fifty dollars. So I snatched this one right up, and wore it with my lace dress (also worn here) tucked into it to tone down the shocking vividness. And then I added a spider necklace, just to be a little kooky :)

Top (actually a dress): H&M
Skirt: H&M
Socks: Fred Meyer
Shoes: Lulu's
Necklace: Bauble Bar
Bracelet: In Pink

  3. Gorgeous and a great find. I'm a pleated skirt fanatic, and have several, but they've all been thrifted. None in fun color like this though.

And I love the dress as top - it works really well!

  5. Ohhh nice find with the skirt! I love the color.
Working the dress as a top is always a good idea. it's two for one!

and I feel like the opposite, since I usually take photos with the remote, i can just bang them out. but when someone is taking my photo, i do all the weird stuff and end up with 100 photos of me fussing with my hair/skirt/belt

  6. Such a girly combination! Pleated skirts are so great. I got a gray one at Forever 21 a few months ago and I wear it all the time. I've never thought to pair it with a lace shirt, though you really rock this look! I'm going to try it.

I have yet to try taking photos with a remote, but I really need to just get over it and try it. :)

  7. I LOVE this! The colors are so beautiful :) I totally agree with you about taking pictures...I hate it when I take so many pictures with my tripod and NONE of them turn out! Your pictures are beautiful :)

  8. Also, I just noticed your necklace! I myself LOVE animal jewelry, and the bug pendant is fantastic. Such an interesting pop against a girly outfit. Great choice!

Sorry for the double post! I just had to say something about your necklace :)
